Assignments
- Social Enterprise mapping and Strategy - Commissioned to map out social enterprise activity in the borough and develop a robust strategy towards the development of a sustainable social enterprise sector in the borough of Lewisham.
- On Target for Enterprise – Delivery of Business Support Programme for Start-up Social Enterprises in the borough of Islington. We were able to: help them gain an understanding of the economic realities of their ventures; make them aware of conflicts with their core mission; develop growth strategies; and support them to attract start-up or growth funds.
- In association with Moving On Consulting, we researched and developed a comprehensive Policy Framework for Tower Hamlets’ Early Years Service (THEYS). The framework was to guide the Council staff in their assessment of funding and development needs of childcare settings.
- Under the LSC Workforce Development Programme, we were commissioned as associates to help assess workforce needs of voluntary and community organisations and small businesses across North, East and Central London.
- We were commissioned by Enterprise Enfield to provide business advice, guidance and mentoring support to start-up and growth businesses in the boroughs of Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest.
- We assisted in the delivery of Access to Finance Programme for SMEs across Objective 2 Areas in London.
- We were commissioned to design and deliver customised training and technical assistance programme to CfD members across the UK.
- a) We were commissioned to research into Local Government Contracting Procedures towards the development of a Diversity Alliance in South East London.
b) We managed a Levi Strauss funded Community Empowerment Project aimed at enabling ‘Community Champions’ to develop projects that contribute to economic and social development in local communities across London.
c) Mapping of Minority Social Enterprises in London. A major research assignment funded by Government Office for London - Olmec commissioned CDSE to research minority social enterprise activity in London.
The assignment had 2 main objectives:
i. To determine the characteristics and geographical spread of existing and potential BME social enterprise across London
ii. Investigate their business support needs with a view to developing a business support model for their growth and development.

- We were commissioned to deliver business advice and support to SMEs and Social Enterprises in North London. Key elements of support were the development of business plans and assistance towards loan finance.
- Commissioned to conduct a financial and management audit and systems review of refugee organisations in North London.
- We were commissioned to conduct a strategic review and evaluation of an ESF funded project - Action Replay that trained and supported disadvantaged young people in East, Central and North London, in the repair of white goods.
- Commissioned to design and develop a Business Plan and Exit Strategy towards the sustainability of this £4m project.
- Commissioned by Fullemploy to project-manage this 3-year – BME Social Enterprise Training and Mentoring Programme.
- Commissioned to conduct a strategic review and develop an exit strategy in respect of the MM Foundation’s Capacity Building Programme.
- Commissioned to conduct an organisational review and develop a business plan and an exit strategy.
- A project management assignment – CDSE were commissioned to design and deliver an Organisational Development Programme to 50 BAME-led voluntary organisations and social enterprises across London.
- Development of a Business Plan towards the acquisition of the old Laban Centre.
- Designed and delivered customised training on social enterprise development.
- Designed and developed 3 training courses on social enterprise development, marketing and legal structures for non-profits.
